€25,000 raised for Cork flood victims

We are delighted to announce that our Raising Cork initiative has generated a staggering €25,000 for St. Vincent de Paul’s Cork Flood Victims Appeal. The table quiz was attended by more than 700 people, with TV and radio personality, George Hook as Quizmaster.

We were all struck by the devastation caused by the recent flooding in the city and county. When a few of my colleagues approached me 10 days ago with an idea to arrange a table quiz to assist those affected by the floods, we had no idea of the levels of support we would receive. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everybody who has supported us in organising this event”, said Brian Healy, Managing Director, H+A Marketing + PR.

The ‘Raising Cork’ table quiz received phenomenal support from throughout Cork’s business community and beyond. H+A Marketing + PR, organisers of the quiz, are particularly grateful to the management and staff at Silversprings Moran Hotel who provided the use of the convention centre free of charge, to our fantastic Quizmaster George Hook, who gave so generously of his time, and, of course, to the local businesses, clients, friends and family members who got involved and helped to make the event a resounding success.

1 day to go!

What an exciting couple of days it’s been….

Friday saw a huge rush of teams registering so now we’re well on the way to making our target. We’ll be sending out a reminder text to all registered teams, and are asking you all to arrive as early as possible to get registered and settled in.

Registration starts at 7… we would ask that you try to arrive early, have a drink to calm the nerves, stake your territory and have some final tactic talks with your team mates.

We’re all really looking forward to a fun night!

Pelé Ball to be raffled on the night

After much debate, we made a decision. One of the Pelé GAA footballs is going to be raffled in our mega raffle at the Raising Cork Quiz.

This means everyone is in with the chance of winning a unique piece of sporting memorabilia that marries GAA traditions with a soccer legend. A true collector’s item.

A call from our Quiz Master

Listen to George here

As George Hook said, we need to work together to help everyone affected by the recent floods.

Register your team today by clicking on the register tab – that’s the one just above this text – go on, you can come back and finish this later… alright, you can do it when you’re finished listening to George.

You can also win some fantastic prizes on the night. You can click on the prizes and sponsorship tab to take a look, but only after you’ve registered your team!

The odds are – 1 in 4 teams could win!

If you’re planning on coming to the Raising Cork Quiz, and can’t decide if it’s the thing for you – then go take a look at the odds of winning something.

We now have 54 confirmed prizes and they are still coming in. So if we reach our target of 200 tables on the night that means, over a quarter of all teams will go home with much more than the feeling that they’ve supported a really worthy cause.

So if you are having trouble convincing your workmate to come along on the night, then send them on the list of prizes

Pele Items set to score high in auction

We realise how valuable the GAA jersey and footballs signed by Pelé are. At the same time we want to make sure that as many people as possible have a chance of acquiring them. So we have decided to put them all up for auction. On the night of the Quiz a silent auction will be held to find a home for the Pele Jersey, and the two footballs will be auctioned online. That means people who cannot attend can still be in with a chance.

We will update you on the online auction as soon as we have finalised the detail.

Watch this space.

The giving just keeps going on…

If you haven’t looked recently, take a look at the ever growing list of prizes. It’s just been updated again. Thanks to all of our sponsors for their kindness and generosity.

Raising Cork with a little help from Pelé

We heard on Thursday evening that Pelé was in Dublin. What an opportunity! Imagine if we could get something signed for our Raising Cork Quiz…

It took quite a few phone calls, but eventually – we got in touch with his agent. It seems Pelé had already heard a lot about the plight of people around the country, and he was more than happy to help. It took a bit of panic calling to find someone who would get us some Footballs and a Jersey, and then another few calls to find someone to get them to the Burlington, where the legend was staying.

We were on tenterhooks, wondering, would we pull it off?

1.30pm Friday, we got the call from the duty manager in the Burlington. Yes. Pelé had signed our gear.

Thanks to Pelé for his kindness, Olivia for the tip off, Antoinette and Malachy for getting the gear and Laurie for taking them safely to Cork.

What a team effort!
